This groundbreaking project has been brought to life by Bill Baker, a partner at Skidmore Owings & Merrill (SOM) and a renowned figure in the field of structural engineering.

Baker's remarkable portfolio includes the world's tallest human-made structure, the Burj Khalifa, for which he developed the unique "buttressed core" system and the iconic Freedom Tower. Baker's expertise and collaborative approach to working with architects and artists worldwide are embodied in the Phoenix Energy Tower.

 

At the heart of Phoenix Energy Tower is an energy storage system unlike any other, developed in partnership with Energy Vault®. Using a network of heavy-duty elevators, the tower hoists 35-ton cement blocks to store surplus energy. When energy demand surges, these blocks are lowered, transforming their potential energy back into electricity for the grid.

 

Phoenix Energy Tower is more than a testament to renewable energy; it's a vibrant vertical ecosystem. It boasts a vertical farm, a green public park, and various educational spaces dedicated to sustainable energy learning. An Experience Elevator and an Observation Deck provide stunning panoramic views of the city and desert, making the tower an iconic destination.
